Worthington Glacier

We left Squirrel Creek Campground this morning.  We had camped beside a stream and could hear the waters rushing over the rocks all night.  Then we started toward the coast again, this time heading for Valdez.  We had a slow morning, for we got stopped by the Worthington Glacier.  We thought we'd look from the overlook, but then saw all these paths where people had been trodding to get closer, and different views.
First view from overlook.

One of the paths led to the bottom of the glacier. No, Bruce is not going to climb on it, but there were two groups that we watched climb on it.  One was a guide with four young adults that climbed quite a ways.  The other was three guys who went ice rappelling.

Bruce and I climbed along the left side of the glacier to be able to look down on it, and came upon this ice cave at the edge.

Looking back the way we came, we could see the lake left from the receding ice. The glacier had deposited gravel and rocks along the edges, and this is what holds the melting water as a lake.

But, back to the glacier, we looked into one of the small crevices.  What a blue!
