And the day before, and the one before that too.

The day before yesterday we left Granite Creek Campground and headed in the wrong direction for a few miles so that we could use a bike trail.  Scenery has one up on the Holmes County Trail, eh?
Bruce biking on Seward Highway bike trail which begins by Hope cut off.
The place we started to bike was a put in spot for rafters on the East Branch of Six Mile Creek.  The guide explained safety rules first, then made everyone jump into the water and ride the current down to where the raft had floated along with another guide.

Getting a feel for the waters of East Fork.

Rafting the East Fork
We kept up with the rafters for the calm waters, but once they hit the white water, we got left behind.  The East Fork empties into Six Mile Creek, which empties into the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet.

Whittier, looking from tourist shops across to working docks.
We then motored along to Whittier, where we got out the bikes again to see the town.

And the day before.  After leaving Seward, which was drenched in sunlight, we meandered along and visited Hope, population 147. It was a mining town, still has many of the original 1800's buildings, including the Social Hall which is still used for town events.

In the museum (that Bruce wrote about in an earlier post) there was this mixer in the bunkhouse kitchen.  Looks like the original Kitchen Aid to me.

Along the road were flowers! What a surprise that I'd notice, eh?  There were several small ponds with waterlilies.
