One more day on the road

It's amazing what we can see in a day, or two. Yesterday we left Williwaw (know what that word means?) campground and first made a stop at a tranquil glacial lake.

As you can see on the picture above, the cloud cover was low, we thought we were in for a cloudy day.  But as we left the Portage Valley and got to Turnagain Arm, this area was sunny.  The snow on the mountains certainly brightened up our day.

We continued on to the Alaska Wildlife Sanctuary, an animal rescue operation.  They also are reintroducing the forest buffalo to it's former habitat in northern Alaska.

On to Potters Marsh, just south of Anchorage.  It's a nesting place for birds, and the Arctic Tern was responding to it's young's demands for food.

And finally, the fireweed has started to bloom.  Waiting for miles and miles of roadside bloom.
