Klutina River, Copper Center, near Glennallen

Last night we camped again at Squirrel Creek State Park - same place we stayed on the way down to Valdez - felt like home! This morning we drove the short distance to Copper Center (see the history of this place) where we saw people fishing for salmon. Stopped, paid for a campsite and set up right by the river. After some education from long-time local fishermen, I caught a 9-10 pound Red (Sockeye) Salmon. I haven't had so much fun in a long time - and we enjoyed about 1/3 of one fillet for supper).

  1. What a great picture! And that fish is pretty amazing. I think your "fresh caught salmon" is fresher than our "fresh caught salmon" here in Indiana... =)
